Choosing between Cloudflare's 1.1.1.1 and Google's 8.8.8.8 for gaming makes very little practical difference. DNS servers are only used briefly, at the start of a connection, to translate a domain name into an IP address. Once that lookup happens, your game traffic travels directly between your device and the game server, completely bypassing DNS. The latency that actually affects gameplay comes from your ISP's routing, the physical distance to the game server, and network congestion along the way, not from which DNS provider you use. Both 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8 are fast and reliable enough that the difference in lookup time is negligible. If you're chasing lower ping in games, run a ping test to measure your real connection to game servers instead of switching DNS providers.
