How to Log In to 192.168.8.1
192.168.8.1 is a private IPv4 address defined in RFC 1918 and used as the default gateway by Huawei, ZTE routers. It is not accessible from the internet - only from devices connected to your local network.
- Connect to your network. Make sure your device is connected to the router's Wi-Fi or via an Ethernet cable.
- Open a browser and type
http://192.168.8.1in the address bar. - Enter your credentials. Type the router username and password when prompted.
- Explore the admin panel. Once logged in you can change Wi-Fi settings, update firmware, configure port forwarding, and more.
Tip: Not sure if 192.168.8.1 is your router's IP? On Windows run
ipconfig and look for Default Gateway. On Mac/Linux run ip route | grep default.

The most common default login credentials for routers using 192.168.8.1. These are case-sensitive:

If none of these work the password may have been changed. Check the sticker on the back of your router for the exact credentials for your model.
Caution: A factory reset erases all custom settings including Wi-Fi name, password, and port forwarding rules. Only reset as a last resort.
What Can You Change in the Router Admin Panel?
- Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password

Troubleshooting: Can't Access 192.168.8.1
- Wrong IP - verify your default gateway using
ipconfig(Windows) orip route(Linux/Mac). - Not on the network - make sure you're connected to this router via Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
- Browser issues - try a different browser, disable VPN, clear cache.
- Router not responding - unplug, wait 10 seconds, plug back in.
- Forgot password - hold the reset button for 10-15 seconds to restore factory defaults.
